Build your authority, fulfill your dream to be a published author.
You have been talking about writing this book for long enough.
You may already have a title, a collection of notes or several unfinished chapters. You may have nothing more than an idea that refuses to leave you alone.
But between work, family, clients and everyday responsibilities, writing keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list.
Finish the Book is designed to change that. From September to December 2026, you will receive the structure, writing prompts, coaching, accountability and protected writing time you need to move from thinking about your book to completing your manuscript.
By the end of the programme, you could enter 2027 with the first draft of your book completed and a clear plan for what happens next.
Programme dates: 7 September to 18 December 2026
There will always be another deadline.
Another client request. Another problem to solve. Another reason to wait until life becomes less busy.
But if you keep waiting for the perfect time to write, another year could pass with your book still living in your head.
You do not need unlimited time.
You need:
That is what Finish the Book provides.
This is not a passive course filled with hours of content for you to watch someday.
It is an active writing programme built around one outcome:
Finish the Book is for you if:
You do not need to consider yourself a “real writer” before joining.
You become a writer by writing.
Not every book has the same purpose.
Inside the programme, you can follow one of two primary paths.
For founders, experts and professionals who want to write a book that strengthens their authority and supports their wider work.
You will consider:
For aspiring authors who have a story, message or creative idea they feel compelled to write.
Your project may be:
Your book does not have to become a business tool to be valuable. Completing it may be the goal.
You do not need to write an enormous book to become an author.
You will choose a manuscript target appropriate for your idea, available time and intended reader.
Ideal for founders, consultants, speakers and first-time non-fiction authors who want to communicate one clear, valuable idea.
Suitable for business, personal development, memoir, faith-based and inspirational books.
Suitable for novels and more substantial non-fiction projects.
A 30,000-word manuscript written over 15 weeks requires approximately 2,000 words each week.
That is roughly 400 words a day, five days a week.
You do not need to disappear for six months or wait for inspiration.
You need a manageable target and the discipline to keep meeting it.
By the end of Finish the Book, a committed participant should have:
Founders and experts should also leave with:
Your book does not have to become a business tool to be valuable. Completing it may be the goal.
September: Design Your Book
You will begin by developing the foundation of your manuscript.
You will:
September outcome: A clear, structured book plan and the beginning of your manuscript.
October: Build the Manuscript
This is where your ideas begin to become a real book.
You will:
October outcome: A substantial first half of your manuscript.
November: Finish the First Draft
November is our most intensive writing month.
You will:
November outcome: A completed rough manuscript or a substantial draft appropriate to your chosen writing track.
December: Refine and Prepare
Writing the final sentence is an important milestone, but it is not the end of the publishing process.
In December, you will:
December outcome: A reviewed manuscript and a clear plan for taking it towards publication.

Nerissa Golden
Nerissa Golden is an author, writer, media strategist and business adviser with more than 30 years of experience in media, communications, entrepreneurship and publishing.
She has written and published fiction and non-fiction, developed stories across multiple platforms and helped founders and organisations clarify the ideas they want to communicate.
Nerissa understands that writing a book requires more than knowing how to form a good sentence. It requires clarity, structure, discipline and the courage to complete and release the work.
Inside Finish the Book, she will help you move beyond collecting ideas and talking about the book you want to write. You will build a writing practice, develop your manuscript and work towards completing the book before 2026 ends.
No. You can join with an initial idea, an outline, several unfinished chapters or an existing partial manuscript. September is dedicated to clarifying the concept and building a workable structure.
However, you should arrive with at least a general sense of what you want to write. The programme will help you develop the idea, but you must be prepared to choose a direction and begin writing.
You may work on a business book, thought-leadership book, memoir, personal-development book, faith-based book, inspirational book, novel or another personally meaningful manuscript.
Some lessons will be particularly relevant to non-fiction and brand-positioning books. Fiction writers will be given space to adapt the weekly objectives to character, plot and story development.
No. One pathway is designed for founders and experts who want to use a book to strengthen their positioning, but the programme is also open to people writing for personal, creative, faith-led or legacy reasons.
The programme will give you the structure, guidance, deadlines and accountability to complete your manuscript. Your result will depend on the scope of your book, the amount you have already written and your willingness to protect your writing time.
No programme can write the book for you. You will need to attend, write consistently and complete the assignments.
You should plan for at least four to six hours of writing each week. Your required time will depend on your word-count target, writing speed and existing material.
A 30,000-word target over 15 weeks requires approximately 2,000 words per week.
The Thursday teaching and coaching calls will be recorded and added to the community and course page.
Writing sprints are working sessions and may not be recorded because there is little teaching content to replay. If you cannot attend a sprint, you can use the scheduled time to complete your own independent writing session.
No. The sprints are provided to help you protect writing time and benefit from community accountability.
Attend the sessions that fit your schedule and establish alternative writing periods for those that do not.
No. The core programme does not include developmental editing, copy-editing, line editing or proofreading. You will receive guidance to help you review your manuscript and prepare it for the next stage.
Manuscript Plus participants receive developmental feedback on one chapter of up to 3,000 words.
No. Book design, formatting, printing, distribution and publishing are not included.
The programme will help you understand your possible publishing pathways and decide what to do after completing your manuscript.
The programme does not promise literary-agent representation or a traditional publishing contract.
You will learn how to clarify your book’s positioning and prepare for the next stage, whether you choose self-publishing, assisted publishing or the traditional route.
AI may be used as a support tool for brainstorming, organising research or testing ideas. It should not replace your thinking, experience or voice.
The programme will encourage responsible use of technology while ensuring that the manuscript remains your work and reflects your ideas.
Falling behind does not mean you have failed. You will use the weekly targets and monthly reviews to assess your progress, adjust the scope if necessary and identify the next most important writing milestone.
The objective is steady progress towards a completed manuscript, not pretending that every participant’s life and writing speed are identical.
You will be encouraged to share progress, challenges and selected excerpts when appropriate, but you will not be required to upload your complete manuscript to the community.
You retain ownership of everything you write.
Yes. The structure is particularly useful for first-time authors who need help turning an idea into a realistic book plan.
You must be willing to learn, receive guidance and write regularly. You do not need previous publishing experience.
Yes. You can use September to evaluate your existing material, strengthen the structure and create a plan for completing the remaining chapters.
Finish the Book is a four-month cohort programme rather than an open-ended membership. If you select the payment plan, you are committing to all four payments. The instalment option spreads the cost of the programme. It is not a month-to-month cancellation arrangement.
Because this is a live, time-bound programme with immediate access to digital materials and community support, payments are non-refundable after the first 14 days. Read our refund and cancellation policy here.
The programme begins on Monday 7 September 2026 and the guided portion ends on Friday 18 December 2026.
The community will remain active until January 31, 2027.
You will leave with a plan for revising, editing, publishing or continuing your manuscript in January 2027.
Your next step will depend on the condition of your draft, your publishing goals and the level of professional support you require. We are happy to recommend several publishers to assist you with your next step.
